To celebrate the completion of Link Asset Management Limited’s enhancement project, Yat Tung Shopping Centre is hosting the “Yat Tung Fly Out More・Unleash Imagination; Discover Infinite Possibilities Programme” from now until August 19. This dynamic programme of activities blends everyday living, nature exploration and Tung Chung’s distinctive spirit, and stands as a summer highlight of the community.
The centrepiece, the “Fly Out Community Paper Plane Art Jamming Project”, features five giant paper planes hand-painted by young people from Tung Chung, each expressing a unique vision for the community. At the same time, the public is invited to participate in a themed art installation, encouraging creativity and collaboration. In addition, Yat Tung Shopping Centre is rolling out a variety of engaging activities to spread joy as the community embarks on its journey from “Find Out” to “Fly Out”. These include the “Fly Out Weekend Discovery Mission”, the “Fly Out Your Plane Competition” and the “Fly Out Sales Redemption” programme, all of which enrich the community experience and celebrate Tung Chung’s vibrant future.
Yat Tung Shopping Centre Transformed into a New Daily Destination for Tung Chung
Yat Tung Shopping Centre, with a gross floor area of nearly 110,000 sq. ft., has established itself as a one-stop hub meeting diverse lifestyle needs, dining options and community facilities. It also houses the district’s largest fresh market — Hong Kong Market–Yat Tung — which serves as the daily shopping and social hub for nearly 40,000 residents of Tung Chung West. With the Tung Chung West MTR station scheduled to open in 2029, the mall is positioned to further develop as a gateway and supply point for Lantau’s outdoor activities.
The asset enhancement project at Yat Tung Shopping Centre, themed “Hike and Seek”, blends exploration and orienteering concepts. Inspired by Lantau’s natural landscapes, the design incorporates elements from local landmarks such as Tung O Ancient Trail, Ngong Ping, Lantau Peak and Sunset Peak. The project has enhanced the shopping environment, facilities and tenant mix, reinforcing the mall’s role as Tung Chung West’s one-stop shopping destination while enabling it to evolve into a new hub where residents can eat, shop and play together.

1 “Fly Out Community · Paper Plane Art Jamming Project” — Five Giant Paper Planes Created by Tung Chung Youth
Paper planes are a simple yet powerful childhood memory — a single sheet of paper folded into a flying object symbolising courage, imagination and dreams. This summer, Yat Tung Shopping Centre is collaborating with local schools and NGOs to inspire Tung Chung’s younger generation to envision the future of their community. Their ideas have been transformed into five giant paper planes on display from now until 19 August. Whether reflecting hopes for a more convenient lifestyle, a greener environment or stronger neighbourhood bonds, these artistic creations put the aspirations of young people in the spotlight at Yat Tung Shopping Centre, the heart of the community. Through this showcase, Tung Chung’s imagination takes flight, celebrating creativity, connection and the spirit of a brighter future.
